Organize a call-in day (or a relentless phone banking campaign) is a powerful way to storm the gates of power, seize the attention of decision-makers, and prove that our cause commands widespread patriot support. Follow these steps to make your call-in day a thunderous success for We The People.

Step 1: Rally with Purpose
Start with a clear battle plan by answering these questions:
-
What’s the issue, and what do we demand? Boil it down to a few sharp, easy-to-grasp sentences that ignite the people’s resolve.
-
Where does this call-in day fit in our fight? Reflect on past actions—meetings with reps, letters to editors, social media blasts, and more.
-
Do we know where our legislators stand? Gauge their positions on our sacred issues.
-
Have we rallied the community yet? Ensure patriots are educated and ready to stand united.
Step 2: Pick Your Target
Choose the decision-maker who’ll feel the heat most. Direct calls to local legislators, the head of a legislative body, or a committee chair. For agencies, aim for the Commissioner or Secretary. If it’s a corporation, target the press office or sustainability director—reaching CEOs is a tough nut to crack, sadly.
Step 3: Secure a Solid Line
Test the target’s phone number beforehand. Will a staffer answer, or will it hit voicemail or an options menu? Aim for a live staff connection to deliver our message.
Step 4: Set the Date and Time
Pick a date tied to upcoming deadlines or events that amplify our cause. Opt for a weekday, urging calls during office hours, or set a range—like a full week or every Thursday at noon—to keep the pressure on.
Step 5: Gather the Troops Online
After nailing steps 1–4, create an event page and call for RSVPs. This tracks commitment and lets you send reminders. Use Action Network for a broad reach, or Facebook if you prefer, though it limits to users only. Check here for a sample Action Network RSVP page to kickstart yours.
Step 6: Build a Call-In Command Center
Make calling a breeze with a web page packed with:
-
A bold title like “This Thursday, Call Senator Jones for Freedom Now!”
-
The phone number, noting if staff or voicemail awaits.
-
A tight script—summarize the issue with key facts and our demand in 1–2 sentences, plus instructions to give names and addresses.
-
A quick form for patriots to report their calls.
-

Step 7: Promote Like Patriots
Shout it from the rooftops! Notify your email list, blast it on social media, and enlist allies to share the event page. Keep pushing RSVPs to swell our ranks.
Step 8: Sound the Reminder
Don’t let the fire die—send reminder emails the day before and day of to all RSVPs, keeping the momentum strong.
Step 9: Track the Victory
Host your instructions, number, and script on an Action Network page with a reporting form. This tracks call volume (note: only about 50% report back, so adjust expectations) and gathers real-time feedback on target reactions. It also lets you spot if the number fails mid-campaign, so you can adapt fast.

With these steps, your call-in day will echo across the land, uniting patriots and forcing decision-makers to listen!
